Infections

A hoarse voice, an unending series of sneezes and congestion, a severe cough. We've all suffered through these conditions, regardless of age. While these symptoms may indicate a cold or the flu, sometimes these symptoms may be the result of a more serious infection that may require medical attention. Infectious diseases can be caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. Some examples of bacterial infections are pneumonia, strep throat, sinusitis and otitis media. Today ongoing medical advances have produced laboratory diagnostics that help detect infection quickly and accurately, as well as drug therapies that are effective against some bacteria that can cause infections.
